Roberto Rivera Padro is a Texas illustrator and cover artist who has built a devoted following on the convention circuit with big, bold monster art that looks like it walked straight off a 1960s movie poster. His variant and exclusive covers for IDW include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder, Godzilla, and Mothra: Queen of the Monsters, along with covers for Savage Wizard and Spectreman, and kaiju fans know his name well. If it stomps, roars, or wears a spiked helmet, there is a good chance he has drawn it.

He is also the co-creator, with his brother Rick Rivera Padro, of Carlos the Kaiju Killer, a creator-owned series that follows a working-class hero taking on giant monsters and is now collected in a first volume. Roberto is known for sketching at his table all weekend long, and his original art and exclusives tend to disappear fast, so get there early if you want one.
