2026 Universe Guest

Rafael Palmeiro

3,000 Hit & 500 HR Club, 4x All-Star, Texas Rangers

Rafael Palmeiro is one of only six players in the history of baseball with both 3,000 hits and 500 home runs. He finished with 3,020 hits and 569 home runs across twenty major league seasons, a level of sustained production that puts him in company with Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Eddie Murray, Albert Pujols, and Alex Rodriguez.

Texas fans got him twice, from 1989 to 1993 and again from 1999 to 2003, and both runs were enormous. He hit 321 of those home runs in a Rangers uniform, put up a 47 homer, 148 RBI season in 1999, and drove in more than 100 runs in nine different years. He made four All-Star teams and won three Gold Gloves at first base along with two Silver Sluggers.

Born in Havana and raised in Miami, Palmeiro was a College World Series star at Mississippi State alongside Will Clark and Bobby Thigpen before the Cubs took him in the first round in 1985. He is a member of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and one of the most accomplished hitters ever to wear the uniform.
