Julio Franco played professional baseball into his fifties and hit the whole way. His best stretch came in Arlington, where he spent five seasons with the Texas Rangers and won the 1991 American League batting title with a .341 average. He made three straight All-Star teams from 1989 to 1991 and was named MVP of the 1989 All-Star Game after driving in the winning runs.

That famously coiled batting stance, bat pointed straight up at the pitcher, produced 2,586 career hits, 173 home runs, and five Silver Slugger awards across 23 major league seasons with the Phillies, Indians, Rangers, White Sox, Brewers, Devil Rays, Braves, and Mets, plus stops in Japan, Korea, and Mexico.

He is also the owner of some of the most unusual records in the sport. Franco is the oldest player ever to hit a major league home run, at 48 years and 254 days, the oldest to hit a grand slam, and the oldest to steal two bases in a game. He has coached and managed since hanging it up and is a member of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.
