Derek Holland gave the Texas Rangers one of the great pitching performances in franchise postseason history. In Game 4 of the 2011 World Series, with the Rangers down 2-1 and facing a St. Louis lineup that had been battering everyone in its path, Holland threw 8.1 innings of two-hit shutout baseball to even the series. It remains the standard every Rangers October start gets measured against.

A 25th round pick in 2006 out of Wallace State, he debuted in Arlington in 2009 and became a rotation fixture, winning 16 games in 2011 and again in 2013. He threw a complete game shutout in the 2011 ALCS clincher against Detroit to send Texas back to the World Series, and he racked up six shutouts in a Rangers uniform, including a two-hitter at Yankee Stadium.

Nicknamed the Dutch Oven, Holland pitched fourteen seasons across six organizations, including the White Sox, Giants, Cubs, Pirates, and Tigers, finishing with more than 1,200 strikeouts. He was also one of the funniest personalities in the clubhouse, a genuine collector and pop culture obsessive, and he is a natural fit for a show like this one.
