Daniel Warren Johnson
Wonder Woman: Dead Earth, Transformers

Daniel Warren Johnson is a four-time Eisner Award-winning writer and artist and one of the most distinctive voices in modern comics. The Chicago-based creator built his name on creator-owned books at Image, including Extremity, Murder Falcon, and Do a Powerbomb, the wrestling epic that won him the 2023 Eisner Award for Best Publication for Teens.
He then took over Transformers for Skybound and Image in 2023, and the results were immediate. Transformers #1 sold out at the distributor level before it even reached shops and moved close to 200,000 copies, with the series still selling six figures more than a dozen issues in. Johnson wrote the first 24 issues and drew the opening arc, winning the 2024 Eisners for both Best Continuing Series and Best Writer/Artist, and The Comics Beat's creator survey named him 2024 Comic Book Industry Person of the Year. He picked up his fourth Eisner in 2026 for Best Single Issue, for his lead story in DC's Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1.
His other credits include Wonder Woman: Dead Earth for DC Black Label, Beta Ray Bill: Argent Star for Marvel, co-writing The Jurassic League, a backup story in Wolverine #400, and The Moon Is Following Us with artist Riley Rossmo. Flesk Publications released a 288-page career retrospective, The Art of Daniel Warren Johnson, after a Kickstarter that raised more than $212,000. His next creator-owned series, Chainkata, launches from Image in November 2026.
